WHO WE ARE
Jason Franks, a graduate of the Douglas J. Aveda Institute in East Lansing Michigan, brings a true passion not only for hair and art, but people as well.
With a background in Music and Theater, his flare for the dramatic and innovation quickly allowed his one-man-show to evolve into the production that has become: The Artisan Company, a salon based on the premise that creative people need a home. A home that can allow them to not only create and flourish, but to be surrounded by like minded peers who want to break boundaries and give their guests a unique experience that they can carry with them, all day every day.
As an artist, Jason is a Professional Stylist and specializes in Hair Color. From the beautifully natural to the avant garde, Jason has specific training in advanced balayage, ombre, color correction, vivid color application and he’s always up for any challenge! The best part of his job Jason says, is the reveal… and then the smile.
Erin Wichman has been doing hair professionally for four years and has never gotten bored being able to create a piece of art through coloring or cutting hair. Erin brings so much to the Artisan team, as an individual who is not only down to earth, but creative and bubbly as well!
When Erin was fifteen, she began working at her first salon, learning the ins and outs of how the industry worked, and for every high school dance getting everyone looking their best with a pretty up-do. This is where her love for wedding hair developed. Erin loves being a part of her client’s special day, making them feel beautiful inside and out. Erin has always loved doing hair and being creative, but she really connects with her passion when she see’s big smiles or tears when she makes them feel beautiful.
When someone sits in Erin’s chair, it is her mission to connect with that person and not only serve a client, but make a friend as well.
Colton James Hughes
Lead Massage Therapist
I had always been enthusiastic about massage for my whole life. My mom was my first client around the age of 6. I worked on her regularly growing up. I remember being in the high school lunchroom, participating in massage circles with a couple of my good friends. When I received my diploma, I didn’t necessarily want a massage career but wanted to learn about the mechanics of it. I then found and enrolled at Irene’s Myomassology Institute from Sept 2009-Sept 2010 It changed my life. I felt like all my senses were heightened. After graduating, I worked a very brief stint at a spa but focused on my restaurant management career. A year and a half ago, I had an opportunity to work at another spa and turned my focus to that where I found my skills grow exponentially. Going into it I only wanted to relax people, not fix them. But then I fell in love with deep tissue work and it reignited my passion for massage. It came to be meditation, art and spiritual for me. I feel like I am playing a symphony when I am most focused on my client.
Sara has been doing hair long before she started her professional career in 2010. You always knew what dolls and Barbies were hers as a little girl for they all had hair makeovers. Her skills and talents have grown incredibly since then yet the passion and giddiness of that little girl remains strong in Sara’s heart; always eager to grow and learn the latest and greatest hair trends from those around her as well as by attending renowned hair shows.
As much as Sara loves to do hair her ultimate goal and happiness comes from seeing the smile on her clients as they walk out feeling better inside and out whether it be from a complete makeover to just a trim. Making new friends is also a great bonus she loves!
